I'm just sitting here looking at my 3 beasties. Simon and Max who are already 7 and 8 years old are about the same size. Boots, the kitten, is considerably smaller and he'll be a year in August. Do they keep growing after a year, or is he just a little guy? (He's the alpha, btw!)

Depends on the mix of breed s/ or breed in a cat ... many grow well beyond a yr ... some are done at 8-10 months

Does it also depend on at what age they're neutered? My cats who weren't neutered until they were rescued at more than a year old are/were big guys; my cat who was neutered before being rescued is smaller (though stronger).

Chloe is the same age (she'll be 1 year old around August 15th, so she's 10 1/2 months old now) and is still very tiny. She still eats kitten food, and I will keep her on it until at least a year. She was an orphan kitten found at 4 weeks old with one other litter mate, so I wonder if maybe her mom was malnourished or whether she even got very much nutrition during her first month. I mean, that has to have some impact on her doesn't it? She was spayed at 5 1/2 months old but I don't think that did anything either way as far as growth. I'm pretty sure Chloe weighs about 7 lbs.

I think it just depends on the cat.

When I adopted Matilda last October, the shelter thought she was 9 months old but she was definitely the size of a full-grown adult cat, weighing a little more than 8 lbs. (My vet guessed that she was actually 1-2 years old). The shelter was feeding her adult food. Now she's close to 10 lbs. and I'm really watching what she eats so she doesn't get much larger than that.

They might be done growing height- and length-wise at a year.....but mine have a tendency to grow "outward" after a year or so.

My full-grown domestic short hair cat should be 11 pounds...and that's big for a female. She is a big, long cat with big paws and head. Females range from 8-12 pounds for a dsh, depending on their frame.

She does weigh 16 pounds...but is on a diet.....
.....and at her age...I'm sure she's be in kitty heaven before she loses the extra 5 pounds.....but she's trying!!

really varies - in my house, we have 4 females, 1 male. females are 7.5, 9.5, 10, & 13 pounds - male is 17 pounds [but he's a bit heavy - should be around 15]. all DSH, too.

Cats spayed/neutered early are usually bigger, taller and longer than those neutered later.

Moggies vary so greatly in size, the early neuter you've got is probably just a small cat

My RB kitty, Leo, weighed 2.5 lbs at about 8 weeks, and he grew to 22 lbs at his full growth, about 1.5 years. He was so big his back came almost to my knees. A sweet kitty, let my little 8lb alpha male push him around, though it was just play, Leo could have shredded him any time. He was a lover not a fighter.

It does depend on the mix but it's hard to tell if they're done growing sometimes I think.
I have two kittens around the same age. Church is a DSH and he seemed like he was going to be a big cat because he was 4 pounds at under 12 weeks old (not chubby at all) and he gained 2 pounds a month steadily from then until about 6 months old. However his growth slowed down dramatically at that point, and he's gained less than a pound since May. He's now 9-point-something pounds at 8 months. My other kitten Roxy is a Maine Coon. She weighs a little less than Church although they're similar in size, but Maine Coons continue to grow until 2-4 years old.
