Off the top of my head I would say Grouse.

Looks like a type of Grouse? couldn't tell you the type of subspecies... anyone know that?

Where was the bird originally killed? That information may help narrow down subspecies.

I actually do not know. I bought it at an auction. I buy items and re-sell them so it would come in handy to know that name of the bird. That is why I am asking if anyone knew. I am having a hard time researching it since I do not know anything about it. But maybe I will find it by looking at pictures of the Grouse.

Looks like a partridge (Spruce grouse)to me, we have tons of them in the hawthorn stands here in Ontario...Cann't really see its underbelly but if it gets whiter towards the tail that could be what it is...

Thanks! I looked up Spruce Grouse and it looks to be that is prob. what it is!

i would say either a Partridge or Ruffled Grouse still ,lol

It's tail is to short to be a ruffed grouse, they have longer tail feathers and are tipped with blacked bands, then edged in white...Partridges have brown tails with some black..
