I mentioned in a thread over in the "What's new pussycat" subforum that I'd got a new water dish for Nikita. For some reason she really wants to dig around in the water before she drinks.

So here's a video now:
..and yeah I don't know why she wants to drink this way either.

Aaaw! What a sweetie!
Maybe it's her wild side (instinct) coming out?
I've seen other animals dig and paw in the water, like they were trying to make sure they were getting debris out of the way?
Whatever the reason....it sure is cute!!

PJ digs in his water, too. He's tip the "non-tippable" bowls.
I never understood why, but he's not the only one. Twitch taught Lily to do so. PJ taught Punky.

Haha, yeah I noticed that as well and my first thought was: "uh, oh, I hope she doesn't have a strong gene from her wild ancestor, the ALC"

Their favorite thing to do is defecate in water, and urinate too of course. Easy to cover your tracks so to speak if you're a wild cat who doesn't want to be conspicuous.

Hehehe, I notice the semi squatting as well but really it's innocent. She just doesn't want her tail to touch the fish tank so she keeps it stuck out which is somewhat similar to how cats keep their tail stuck out when they're about to use the toilet.

She uses her litterboxes perfectly fine and she's never gone in water for that purpose. Heh..

How did you figure it out?
She started digging in her normal water dish and splashed water everywhere...

Well, she certainly seems happy with her new water dish! I suppose it is like drinking out of a small pond or stream that way, like in the wild!
She sure does love her water, huh?!
