Since Thursday I've been getting this message:

http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com...12&u_java=true

on threads. It is usually when I try to switch to page 2 of a thread in the Ferals forum. But today I'm getting it in several different forums. I've gotten it on 2 different computers, so it isn't the computer. I use Internet Explorer on both sytems tho.

The link shows a blank page. Could you give us the text of the message?

You might have misspelled "http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/..."

---http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/ads?client=ca-pub-8712626187093023&dt=1214841667323&lmt=1214841667&prev_fmts=728x90_as%2C728x90_as &prev_slotnames=5435031473&format=336x280_as&output=html&correlator=121484166312 3&channel=7811635056&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thecatsite.com%2Fforums%2Fshowthread.p hp%3Ft%3D170276&color_bg=FFFFFF&color_text=000000&color_link=3300FF&color_url=33 00FF&color_border=FFFFFF&ad_type=text&ref=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thecatsite.com%2Fforu ms%2Fforumdisplay.php%3Ff%3D2&frm=0&ga_vid=1577010950.1189041079&ga_sid=12148405 91&ga_hid=1818144260&ga_fc=true&flash=9.0.28.0&u_h=900&u_w=1440&u_ah=870&u_aw=14 40&u_cd=32&u_tz=-240&u_his=12&u_java=true---
Then it offers suggested links.

PS...I added the dashes before and after the url so you ould see the entire text.

I'm still having problems seeing anything but a blank page. Can you provide the text of the message?

That is the text of the message - I got a similar one on a political forum.

It seems like it is searching for an ad as a page, and when it can't find it, it offers google links for the ad address (in this case, the blank page the OP posted above). Like when you type a website address wrong and it offers links, but in this case you click on the forum page and it searches for the advert as a google search.

The text of the message is in my posting! Read the quote!!! I added the dashes in front and behind the quote so the site didn't change it to a URL listing.

Sorry, I misunderstood as you said that the first URL was misspelled. I will pass it along to the administrators.

Hmmm and the rest of the page does not load? Usually, when it can't find a google ad, the error message is confined to the frame of the ad.

Please verify that the entire page doesn't load. Thanks.

Nope, nothing loads. I am redirected to a plethora of suggested ads and articles but nothing from TCS.

Thank you for your help with this. It is getting frustrating since it is usually a posting I REALLY want to read.

Try turning off Java in your browser. At the same time, clear cookies and caches. Reboot, try again.

If it continues, try turning off Javascript. You won't want to leave it off, it's too useful, but it will be informative to know if the problem goes away. Sometimes Javascript files on a page can mess up a browser. If you can browse wth Javascript off, wipe everything on the browser in the way of history, cookies, authenticated sessions and all that you can. Then quit the browser. Hopefully it'll die cleanly. If it doesn't, you may need to do more.

Then reboot, restart the browser. Make sure it's working, you might get complaints about Javascript being off from sites, don't worry about those, look for a repeat of the original behavior. If all is well, you can turn Java and Javascript back on. I'd recommend leaving pop-up windows off.

You might also want to look into this:
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

I usually take out the adsense lines in the hosts file to let those ads through, but YMMV.

If you still have problems, it'll help to mention your browser and OS.

I can't turn anything off here at work (working on a LAN with TIGHT security) but I will try this at home. Thanks. I'll give an update later tonight.
