I happened across CBC Marketplace on TV the other night and they were doing an episode of vet fees and markups. I can't say I was surprised with much of it, but it was certainly interesting to hear about it. It refers to Canadian vets, but I'm sure the US is much the same.

I know I can get a whole bottle (150+ tabs) of prednisone for myself (without any insurance coverage) for the price Zoey's first vet charged for 10 tabs
I've never asked my vet for a prescription, but I might have to start (hopefully we don't need one for a while!).
