Boni is a 3 year old tortoishell who was recently dx with a seizure disorder. She is now fully indoors (was in and out) and seems happy enough but bored? I play with her as best as I can. The other in and out cats don't bother with her too much. Would it make sense to get an inside kitten for her as a companion? I realize it is a gamble.

How would you keep the new one from wanting to go out with the other cats, and what if the chemistry between them doesn't work out? It's kind of tricky! Is there any way you can afford an outdoor enclosure (look at the top of the forum for an example of some) so she can be out sometimes?

Why not make all the cats indoor only? It's much safer for them that way, plus you won't have to deal with fleas, exposure to FIV, and all that other stuff.

I'm always in favor of someone adopting a new cat that needs a home. I think so long as you find one with a similar personality, it should be ok. If you do decide to bring home another cat, do a google search on "cat introductions" so that you do it the right way in order for the best chance that they will be friends.

Try to play with indoor-only cats at least 15 minutes a day with some sort of interactive toy, like Da Bird or other fishing pole type toys, or a laser.
