**rant about crotchety old lady**
I don't know if this should go in the S.O.S forum, but the crazy witch across the street threatened to kill/get rid of my neighbour's cat. So my neighbour (who we'll call Bob) is an older guy, I'd say he's about 60, and he has an inside/outside cat. Their cat has lived about 17 years by now without anyone (to my knowledge) hurting it or threatening it.
However, when we had our indoor/outdoor cat Flash, she pooped/peed on this lady's lawn and the lady's husband told my dad to make sure Flash didn't go in their yard again. That was twelve years ago, and my dad hasn't talked to him since.
Well this afternoon we cut a tree down and had Bob help us cut the roots. Around noon we saw the animal control vehicle stop at the cat-hater lady's house. I didn't see if they had trapped an animal. Around 3:30 her husband drove off in their truck, squealing the tires, and Bob made a joking remark: "Give 'er!" The lady, for whatever reason, called Bob an a-hole. Bob is a funny, well-liked guy, so I don't know why she freaked out on him.
ANYWAY, the lady told Bob that his cat should stay on our/his side of the street, or else 'he wouldn't see it again.' She later went on to say that they already had animal control at their house to get rid of a baby rabbit and said 'and it's dead now!'
So, in my opinion, her title of disgruntled lady proves true. (A few years ago she went to everyone's house on their side of the street and told them to get rid of their trees so she wouldn't get leaves on her lawn.)
My mom told Bob that if his cat does go missing, he's got two witnesses (my parents). There is no cat bylaw in our city, so basically cats can roam free. I don't understand why she can't just shoo the cat out of her lawn or SPEAK to the cats owner IN A NICE MANNER, instead of killing it/threatening it. And killing a baby rabbit because it was on their lawn? - boy, is she an angry woman.
So, what I came to ask is, can I call the police on her for threatening Bob's cat? Or do I have to wait and see if she does, in fact, kill it? *gulp*
ETA: This probably sounds like a dumb thing to be mad about, but who knows what she'll do if the cat goes in her yard? I really don't know if she would call animal control or physically harm it.
