Oh gosh. I think we will be at the vets first thing tomorrow

He seems to have a problem with his throat so I`m staying up with him tonight incase he needs the emergency vet. ( I hope not as he was horrible last time. )

I`ve been searching his symptoms but can`t really find a lot

Please let him be ok tonight! I don`t want to take him to the 'nasty' vets

Oh No, I'm sorry about that, I know how awful it feels when our kitties get sick, I hope he doesn't get sick tonight. I always get so scared when my kitties get sick during the weekends, our vet doesn't work on Sunday and he works only 3 hours on Saturday.

How is he behaving?

And have you looked down his throat to check for obstructions?

It`s hard to explain really. At the moment he is just sitting in the hall, nothing obvious going on, but just before he got up on the bed as usual and he starts swallowing repeatedly like he`s going to be sick and gave a few little coughs. He sounded like there`s fluid in his chest or somewhere when he purrs, like after he had his dental, he had a rattly chest for a day after or maybe it`s in his throat

He`s been ever so slightly 'off' for a few days but this morning he was yelling at me for breakfast which he hadn`t done for a few days.

Also he seems to be losing his voice. There`s no discharge or anything from his nose, eyes.

There is no way he will let me look down his throat. He won`t even let me check his teeth!

Thanks
It`s always out of hours. isn`t it?!

I`ll take him if he get`s any worse but we went to the emergency clinic once before and the vet we saw was from anouther practice and in my opinion incompetant so I complained about him. 10 hours till the regular vet is open.

Thank you

Ok, I fell asleep

He woke me up for breakfast so I thought he`s better but when he tried to eat his wet food he was coughing and gave up
He just wants to cuddle now and sleep so I`m going to ring the vets as soon as they open. I have a friend who`s going to take us.

He does eat grass a lot and I saw him eating some wednesday. Maybe a bit got stuck

He just wants cuddles, bless him

Back from the vets. She examined him and couldn`t see anything down there. She felt all down his throat and said usually if something had got wedged in there he should react but he didn`t. She said a sore or inflammed throat can causue those symptons too.

Soooo, she`s thinking he`s tried to bring up a fur ball and a bit has got caught up in his throat. He`s had anti-inflammatory and has hairball paste so he hopefully poops it out but if he`s no better wednesday or get`s worse he will be sedated and scoped.

He was really not happy with the paste on his paw but he has managed to eat a little bit of chicken.

The furballs with mine are terrible at the moment because their shedding now. Their back on the furball control kibbles and i've got the paste on them as well because i've been coming home at least 3-4 times a week to find little bits of vomit with a furball in it

Yay! Whatever it was seems to have passed
He is eating normaly and no coughing or wheezing or anything

The vet did say there was a lot of problems with hairballs at this time of year. Thing is Kitty never spits them out. He hocks them up only to swallow them back down which is probably how some got tangled up in his throat.

So yeah, thanks for the vibes and prayers
He is back to his usual demanding but very cute self
Pheeeew!

Ok, now he`s being odd again but in a different way. He was digging in his litter tray then came and yowled up the hallway then went out, so I guess the paste is working but now he`s come in and is just laying in a spot he never lays in and is not looking up when I call him

I think maybe the paste is making his tummy feel bad. He hasn`t even had any today.

Is this a normal reaction to hairball paste?

I've never experienced it before?, but it may take a couple of days to get through his system?. It might be an idea just to give the surgery a quick ring to ask though.

I give my 3 "Katalax" is that what you were prescribed?
