Has Anyone Seen "Unique" Cat Food Lately?

Our cats loved "Unique" catfood in the '80s. Now that one is gone and the other (Spook is 17) has a tumor, we want to go the extra mile to cheer him up. If you know how to get some, please respond.

Unique is the brand name, but I don't know if there is a "ghost" (from a buyout or something) manufacturer.

I must say I have never heard of this food. And by the midwest am I to assume the mid west of usa?

Was it a small town food by a local manufacturer? (If there is such a thing.)

Dillon's grocery store use to sell it in the Kansas City area. It was boneless, but mostly whole fish in prawn jelly. The only chopped part was the part that wouldn't fit within the diameter of the can. There were several flavors, but I don't recall what they were. When Dillon's stopped carrying it, we asked them to put it on their special order list (normally used for international human food). We saw it a couple of times on the special order shelf, but that was about thirteen years ago. I thought I would have better response here than to call Dillon's.

I've been wondering what happened to Unique brand cat food for years myself. Back in the mid-80's we were able to buy it while living in the Atlanta area. Haven't seen it since. Now in the KC area and I would love to find it for our two cats. Great cat food packed with chunks of fish in a jelly. Here's to hoping someone can find this for the rest of us.

If it's only for occasional treats, just buy your kitties some tinned sardines. Yummy!

The closest to that now may be Sheba.

Soulistic Tuna and Shrimp is exactly how you described. There's a thin layer of what they call gelee, but which is really jello minus the flavoring and coloring, on top, with big tuna chunks and whole shrimp sort of packed under it. It's at Petco. I haven't tried other gelee ones (they make gravy and gelee, and I got the gelee by accident. the cats love it though) but there are lots of different flavors, and this brand likes to use whole pieces.

My boys like the BFF in aspic.... fishy flavors... chunky, etc. Made by Weruva, which is a very good pet food maker.
