Hi - I had posted on another cat site, a little while back, that my Murray doesn't like to make eye contact. I got some good advice - like, if he happens to catch my eye, do a slow "I love you" blink. And sure enough, the other night, he happened to lock his gaze with mine, perhaps by accident, but I did the slow blink, and when I opened my eyes, he was still staring at me. He looked into my eyes for quite a while. He's never done that before. It was really special!

For cats, doing the slow blink at them is just our way of saying 'Don't be afraid, we are harmless!' So that is a good sign for your kitty!

Really, sometimes I will walk past one of mine, not saying anything, just blink and then they will blink back at me

He hasn't done that yet. Though he does often close his eyes when he's sitting/lying with me.
