I am completely heartbroken. I just got back from a 5 day vacation. Matt was home and taking care of the animals. . . I have no idea what happened but Lilly, my female English Angora, died on Saturday. Matt couldn't get ahold of me and didn't think about it so I can't have a necropsy done to find out what happened either. He said she was chilling out on the couch with him the night before and nothing seemed off with her. She didn't have any real marks or anything either. I am incredibly worried about the boys now. I can't stand being in the living room right now because lately Lilly had been my couch potato buddy and I can't understand why she isn't here anymore.

I wasn't home and Matt didn't think about it so he already sent her to be creamated (sp?) so it is too late for a necropsy. . . It's likely that the vet wouldn't have known anything anyway. . . it just happens sometimes with bunnies I guess.

He did what he thought I would want him to do. I'm glad he had her cremated so we will get back the ashes. He just didn't think about the fact that with the other two I would want tests run to see what happened to her.

I don't think this is Matt's fault at all. . . She had health issues before we ever got her, we just thought she was out of the woods but most likely, she had other issues that she was hiding. . . bunnies are even better at that then cats.

condolences on losing your bunny. I have heard that they are fragile creatures
Once, one of our cats ( a kitten really) jumped on a cottontail in the yard, it let out a horrible shriek, as they will do, and then just flopped over - gone
Our vet said that they go into shock easily and that it probably had a heart attack from the fear of the kitty alone. The kitty was only trying to play.
It sounds like you had a real bond with her - I didn't know that rabbits bond that well with humans, making your sad story even sadder

Play happily over RB, Lilly, have fun in Bunny Heaven
