Meowing in the litterbox when being looked at?

If i walk in the room where their litterboxes are kept and my tortie girl Rosie is paying a visit, she meows at me as if to say "Privacy please mum!!"

Can they be private like this because she's 6 now but she's always been like that if i look at her?.

Hard to know what she is saying. You may have reinforced it through the years by responding to her meow. One of my cats calls me over just before he deficates. He waits til I clean his box then he'll go to the bathroom.
