Tabby's Place

I don't know if you remember - last year a man named Jonathan Rosenberg was in the news. He was the guy that gave up his job and put all he
owned into building a cat sanctuary here in NJ.

Here is the dream he has put into motion

So I formulated a dream ... a dream of a sanctuary for cats. This would be a place of refuge and
shelter for cats that were temporarily unwanted and homeless. It would serve as a "last chance"
for cats, by accepting those cats that were on "death row" at other shelters and facilities.

In my dream, no cat would be euthanized unless it was suffering and there was no hope of recovery. The sanctuary would be a place where even cats that were "unadoptable" could live in comfort, with the care, attention and love they deserve. No cat would be refused due to age, illness or disposition. The sanctuary would gladly accept FIV+ cats and would have rooms devoted to their care.

The ultimate goal for each cat would be adoption into a loving home. But the sanctuary would be
designed so that cats could spend long periods of time there comfortably, awaiting adoption. In
fact, it would be designed so that a cat could spend years, or even its entire lifetime, at the
sanctuary. This meant that there would be no cages at the shelter. Instead, groups of cats would
live in large rooms, where they could roam and play without restraint.

And, of course, all of the cats would be given human attention and interaction, along with
high-quality food and on-site medical care.

Here is his web site, there almost there - very interesting!

What a wonderful goal! I'm glad everything is going so smoothly! Any of our NJ members live near there? Keep us updated.

He will be working with the shelter I volunteer for and is only about 20 minutes from my house. I am going to check it out once they have the grand opening.

THAT IS SO FABULOUS!!!!!! I'm soooo glad you posted this! I don't know if I was a member when you first posted, or if I just didn't see it....

I mapped it out. We're 37 miles from its location, but it's almost directly south of us, and this far west in New Jersey, there's no great N-S roads, so the mapping program said it's 1 hr and 14 minutes away. (It's south of I-78, and we're north of I-80).

Isn't he great!!! I'd love to have the money to do that sort of thing. It's lovely to know that there are people out there who will devote their lives to needy animals
