There is a feral cat colony down the street for me and today we found an orphaned 8-14 day old kitten. It's wobbling and walking around but its eyes aren't open yet. The man who lived there was going to pack up all the cats and ship them to the pound.. And this tiny kitten is the last of its litter (due to dogs).

I couldn't let it die. Can someone please give me a crash course in orphaned kitten care? I can post a picture if you would like to see the size/age of the kitten.
It seems healthy. Its fur isn't too messed up.

It takes ALOT on your part, so be prepared!

You need to go to the store and get KMR asap! Kittens cannot pee/poo on thier own, so you will need to help her by gently rubbing her butt with a wet/warm cotton ball until she pees/poos this will need to be done after every feeding. DO NOT feed her if she is COLD to the touch, if she is cold hold her to your body until she is warmed up-then feed her. You been to keep her in a really warm room-around 85 deggrees warm (F) or she will get too cold. If she starts acting sick in any way, rush her to the vet! Kittens can get very sick very fast.

She is going to need to be fed every 3 hours, as much as she will take. It will be difficult at fist, because KMR taste gross to kittens who have had mommas milk, but she will learn to love it. As she gets older, the feedings can be a little farther apart. Don't try to give her any wet or dry food, her system is unable to tolerate it right now. I haven't had any luck with those kitten bottles, I opt for a needless medeuim syringe for feedings. The website abby posted is wonderful for kittening!

Good luck, and bless you for taking her in! That is horrible about the other cats...

I'm surprised that she went on her own, but as long as the stool is normal, I think it should be okay. My Teddy was 3 weeks old when I got him, but I know that extra week makes a huge difference. As long you keep her warm and feed, she should start to thrive in no time. If there is anything that those above links didn't explain, I'll do my to answer it.

I know how nereve racking it is to have such a little one be so dependent on you.

If she pooped on her own, she's likely closer to 2 weeks. I found one of my kitties at 3 weeks old and she was able to use the litter box right away with no problems. In fact, she pooped ALL the time.

It's also important to keep her warm since kittens have trouble (or can't) control their body temperature. In a week or so I'd reccommend taking her to the vet to be checked out and get some vitamins.
