I can't figure out why, but Shinobi's litter (it might just be one of them, we never catch them in the act) seems to have the idea that clothing and bedsheets/pillows are appropriate poo areas. They don't have any problem using the box, but it's getting a little irritating to have to do a load of laundry every day. Can anyone explain what's going on?

My Bob likes shiny materials like sheers on your windows. If he can sit on it, he'll pee on it...he's done it on my daughter's rain jackets a couple of times because she throws them on the floor. I don't know what spurred this on, but he likes the slippery fabrics. I just have to make sure none are laying around now and he doesn't do it on anything else.

It just might be that your kitten thinks that the soft clothing was like his nesting box...where he felt softness and it was comfy.
