DH and I signed up with the local gym over the weekend and I got a personal training package of 3 sessions plus one freebie session to see what I think of it.

I had my first session yesterday, and I strained something... I have a little spot between my ribs just under my left breast that hurts when I take a deep breath in, or move the wrong way, and have a pain in pretty much the same spot but in my back which also hurts when I move.

Ahhhh isn't getting fit fun?

It was lovely, but didn't do a thing! I can't even sleep, or lean on my left side because it hurts too much
Tylenol for me today

Whew! I must admit that the title alone had me a little worried about your incision.

Hope you feel better soon!

You may have to tone it down a little. It seems maybe you are moving a little fast in your state of health. Did your doc recommend it? If you are in that much pain, your body is secreting a lot of lactic acid, and will cause you muscles not move properly. The lactic acid secretions feel like like rice crispies under your skin, if you take your thumb and press down on an area and you hear or feel little pops, that is a lactic acid and it being acid makes you sore, because it glues you muscles together, making them move a a big lump instead of independently. If you can afford to do it, or have someone available that can do it, I highly recommend a massage. they can break up those little knots. It is not anything dangerous, by it will sting a little. I wish we were closer, I would love to work on you. Drinking lots of water is helpful, because it flushes out your system what it can, the part of the lumps that have been crunched up.

Sarah, since you have the sense of it being both in front and in back, I wonder if it might not be muscles at all, but something internal...? Especially since the hot tub didn't help...

I know you feel like we're all overprotective of you, but gosh... maybe you should call and ask your doctor's nurse about it?

I used to do triathlon, I definitely know what that feels like...
I have no restrictions now, and it was just my first session with a PT. My chest, back and ab muscles are very weak, and while I was doing low weights, it was obviously a little much. I'm doing lower body with the PT today, so I can tell him about the pain, and make sure he sticks with lower weights and high reps until I have more strength.

I'm sure it's muscular - I think if it was internal it would hurt all the time. Can you strain your diaphragm? That's kinda what it feels like...
