Since we've switched Muddy over to wet food (which he loves), we've been giving him 2 wet meals a day - at breakfast and at dinner. About mid-morning (or a couple hours after his breakfast), he screams at me for his "second breakfast". This isn't just a little meowl, it's an actual scream and if I ignore him, he follows me around and wraps himself around my ankle. Think of a 2 year old having a temper tantrum.

Don't Hobbits always have a "second breakfast", and don't they all have furry feet? I can see him tell his sister "I don't think she knows about second breakfast".

That's too funny! Yes, hobbits like to have a second breakfast...I think they called it "elevenses" in the book.

You know what's funny? He usually begs about "elevenses"!

He insists on a "second supper" in the evening...So he gets 3 wet meals.
So would his second supper be called "ninesies"?

So what would you call Squishy who begs for another meal every time you walk in the room? Even if he has food out he'll stop eating to beg for more!

No, there's second breakfast and then there's elevenses. Hobbits generally eat six to eight times a day:

Breakfast
Second Breakfast
[Elevenses]
Lunch
Tea
Dinner
Supper
[After Supper Morsel]

Elevenses and ASM are more snacks than full meals.

Our previous cats were all fairly moderate eaters and we just left dry food out all the time. Zane, however, when we did that, stuffed himself. He's lost a little weight now, but still looks like a furry grey rugby ball with legs and a tail. (He used to look like a furry grey soccer ball with legs and a tail.)
