Right, well, a friend of mine suddenly found herself with 4 kittens from a barn that were going to be drowned tomorrow (
) if she didn't take them. She's not sure how old they are, but judging by the size and what teeth they've got so far she's guessing they're around 4 weeks (they haven't got any premolars yet and are just tiny).

I've already told her to get some non-clumping litter for them, but I've got no expertise at all when it comes to young kittens. Should she be feeding them KMR? She's feeding them wet food for tonight, since she got them after all the stores had closed, but how long does a kitten need milk? Would there be any harm in switching them over to wet food/soaked dry food now? Also, anything else? I'm not even sure what else to ask lol. Any advice anyone can offer for her?

I'm sure you've already thought of this, but take them to the vet! Just to get them checked out.

If they're really four weeks (and the vet should be able to give you an idea), that's pretty young. I'm no expert, so hopefully someone on here with more experience will give you a good idea!

I just wanted to pop on and say thanks to you and your friend for saving them!!! And good luck, kittens are lots of love and fun. Have you posted pics somewhere I missed? If not, you should!!

i rescured Firefox at about that age. i fed her KMR [just born brand] both straight & used it to mix w/her wet food until she weighed 2 pounds [most kittens weigh 2 pounds @ 8 weeks or so]. took 3-4 months, because she was so underweight to begin with!
