Ferris went to the vet's for his checkup and his furcut today. He's very healthy, I am happy to report.

OK, first, here's his picture from last year, Ferris the Lion Pony:

Very cute, but not what he was supposed to look like.

Here's my boy looking more like he's supposed to. She gave him booties instead of fuzzy uggs and a sweater this year, plus she shaved off most of his plume.

I bet it was horrifying her to do that to him, and I'm sorry, but just the thought of it makes me

He's already LOVING to feel me petting him against his skin, and the fur that's left is sooooooooo soft.
And look at that really awesome lion's tail!

He's still a bit drugged out from the meds, but he's getting good with his back legs again (they've been a bit weak - he looked like a drunken bum, earlier, staggering a bit,) so I fed him a little wet. I'll keep the dry up overnight just in case, don't want him getting sick everywhere.

Overall, though, he looks and will feel MUCH better.

Oh - and without that fur, he weighs 13.5 pounds. About the same as Max, and now they look nearly the same size!

I remember his haircut from last year - it had me giggling for days
I'm glad this haircut is not only better but so much less traumatic for you!!!! I assume you had no dramas getting him there?

Give him a big snuggle from me!

It was a 3-minute catch and stuff in the carrier, down a whole 12 minutes from last timearound!

I'm very proud of him, he's been a really good boy.

Awww look at that little naked sweetie!

Much better cut than last year. I considered getting Riley a cut for the summer but I'm not sure he would ever forgive me if I did!

I wonder the same thing about Wickett too. He does so well for grooming and scissor trimming but anything that runs (like clippers) scares the daylights out of him.

Is Ferris awake when they cut him? I love the stripes in his short fur!

I'm not going to tell him you said that. He's a little sensitive about it.

No, he is sedated. I wish we could do it with him awake, but he'd never stand for it and there would be bloodshed.

However, I can't even begin to tell you what a positive change comes over him once he gets home with his new haircut. Last night, once the drugs had fully worn off, he was literally FROLICKING. Running around like a bengal, it was wonderful to see.

He looks like he feels lighter, and he is loving the feeling of the seabreeze coming in through the windows.

He's also DEMANDING cuddles, and he doesn't want me to stop touching his shaven little body. He absolutely LOVES it.
