This year has been VERY slow for foster kittens, surprisingly. Last year at this time, we had already taken in three pregnant mommas, two orphaned litters, and one older litter. This year, we've only had one litter so far. Not that I'm complaining, it just means kitten birth numbers are down in our area.

But today, John got a call from one of his friends. Their cat had kittens and they were ready to take the kittens to the pound. We went down there right away to get them. The momma cat had them around April 28th. The kittens were born inside of a 1968 Mustang!

There were six kittens total. They had already given one away to a family member and they were keeping one. The one they were keeping was VERY friendly and social but the others had not been touched at all. They are very feral at this point and it took us quite awhile to find them so we could catch them. We eventually found them under the hood of the same Mustang they were born in.

They're still a bit too young to leave momma (only 7 weeks old), but are eating on their own. Luckily, our other kitties are more than willing to teach orphaned babies how to be cats. I didn't want to see them go to the pound, plus I didn't want to wait too long to start socializing them.

We're going to give them all Mustang themed names, but haven't decided on four names yet.

So for now, they're known as Kittens 1-4. Here are a few pictures, I had to take them outside on the back steps for the lighting to be decent.

Kitten 1 - Male - Silvery tabby - the friendliest of them all at this point

Kitten 2 - Male - Brown tabby

Kitten 3 - Female - Unusual coloring, smoke? Black with white roots and tabby markings

Kitten 4 - Female - the most gorgeous of them all but also the most terrified so getting pics was difficult. Longhaired and also that smokey black color with white roots

Some "Mustang"-related names:

Sally
Shelby
Cobra
Eleanor

OK, if any of these are a mystery, just ask!

I know! When we were hunting for the kittens they said "there are two tabby striped kittens and two black looking ones". I was kinda shocked when I actually saw the kittens!

She really is gorgeous as well. She's actually got more swirls and stripes and is a lighter "black". Plus she's longhaired. She's absolutely terrified and just cowers and shakes so it's really hard to get a good picture of her. She'll come around though!

Wow, #4 is really pretty and unusual! But they are all adorable, of course. Good luck with the precious little things!

They're beautiful! Poor babies look so scared... they're lucky they ended up in your capable hands; I know they'll be just fine
