I got rats!

I just got three ratties!

I adopted them on Friday from someone who had rescued them. They are SO adorable! They are all young females. One is a blue berkshire, one is a himalayan, and one is a blue blaze rex dumbo who is younger than the other two... They are really sweet! The blue berkshire is the friendliest but the blue rex is pretty shy so I am going to work on taming her a lot... I am still deciding on names but I think I am going to name one of the blue rats Fiona and I might named the himalayan Yukiko.

I took some photos today, they're not that good though...

They are just precious!

Your rex doesn't have much curl to her, does she? I've always wanted a rex, but I wanted them to stay looking like a little sheepie.

Nope not much curl at all! In fact when I first saw her I wasn't even sure if she really WAS a rex, but there is a bit of waviness.


Here is a baby photo of one of my previous rats... She was a russian blue rex and you can see she was much more curly/wavy:

Very cute! I've got blue selfs, one is a rex, I've got dumbos as well - I've found the dumbos to be incredibly sweet natured. I love all my ratties too!

Oh, they're all so cute! And a dumbo! I adore them. I really want to try to find a dumbo next time I add on. Unfortunately the nearest breeder I have found is several hours away, so it will more likely depend on what rescues are around at the time.

The dumbo is actually the shyest one of the group. Hopefully she will get over it with some coaxing though...
Actually I really like the standard ears but in my area pretty much all the breeders breed dumbo rats so the standard is harder to come by! My last two ratties were both dumbo.
The red eyes do show up really well in the photo but actually when you see them "in person" their eyes are so dark red that it's not really noticeable (looks black.) The camera flash makes it show up really bright!

My roommate is freaked out by red-eyed rats, so imagine her surprise when I showed her a picture of my Baileys (he's a fawn, so his eyes are ruby colored) and the eyes showed up bright red. She had to go get him out and 'analyze' his eyes because she couldn't believe they were actually a very dark red.

Very cute rats!!! We just got our very first rats last week, and they have been fun to learn about.


My kids are convinced that the guinea pigs with red eyes at the pet store are "EVIL!!!!" Very embarrassing at Petsmart!

Very cute rats! (I have 23 rats currently, only 1 dumbo..My numbers usually change since I do rescue..but usually it just goes up, never down. too many people breed their own rats, or get pet store rats over rescuing them!)

I love rats!
I've got two sheilded females. A blue and a fawn. My blue female will be 3 this winter!
