I have not posted in awhile due to computer issues but we adopted a kitten (well didn't adopt but the petstore gave him to us because they couldn't find anyone to buy him). He hasn't been diagnosed with IBD but his symptoms have dissapeared since being fed strictly canned food.

My question is are there any dry foods he can be fed in addition to the canned (he was originally on Wellness when we adopted him than we tried eagle pack, Innova, Innova Evo, and Felidae). He seemed to do ok with the Felidae but I also added a couple spoonfuls of the activia yogurt to his Felidae dry.

Right now we're feeding both the cats strictly canned and their on Merricks (it was on sale buy one case get one free) but usually we can only afford to feed them the fancy feast (they eat the gourmet chicken flavor that's all they really like from fancy feast). Is the fancy feast ok for our IBD kitten, he seems to do ok on it and we hope to put them on something better in the future but right now Fancy feast is the best we can get that they will both eat willingly.

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. His name is Riggs and he's about 6 months old although he looks much younger because he's really small for his size.

Your cats digestive tract and your vet should guide you... IBD cats often do best on a low grain to no grain diet ... be it canned , raw or home cooked ////

FF is okay and if that is what kitty does best on then go for it ... FF has some grain free and some by product free formulas read the labels ... How does kitty handle fish??

Riggs seems to do good on any canned food (well besides 9 lives and the cheaper cans of food like that). They used to get things like wellness, evangers, eagle pack, felidae and innova and evo all rotated and they did well on that but we always had trouble finding one brand or flavor they both would eat willing. They LOVED merricks, until we started feeding fancy feast. After Fancy Feast they seemed to turn their nose up at everything and finally started enjoying Merricks again (figures too when I'm down to my last 2 cases) and then it'll be back to fancy feast again. They both LOVE the gourmet chicken flavor and so we have just been buying the 12 packs of that, a couple a week, they usually eat 3-4 per cat per day.

I thought a dry food like california natural may be ok for him I was just wondering if anyone else had experience with IBD cats and feeding dry food.

I don't know if they really like fish they seem to like things like chicken or beef (their favorite flavor of merricks is the cowboy cookout which is beef). They turn their noses up at merricks with fish in them.
