I'm wondering if he is scent marking. I the latter clip it looks like he sniffed where he scratched.

Or else he is doing it to annoy you. Bless his little cotton socks...

Yeah, that's sounds right as well
He only does it when i'm sitting down so i wonder if he's seeking attention as well?

Cute!
I think it's just a form of exercise and he probably does it even when you are not around.

That's too funny and cute all at the same time. George does that to get my attention - especially in the morning when he wants me to get up and I'm trying to ignore him.

Did he push it closed on purpose? Maybe open it again for him and see what he does. Thats how all of my cats let me know they want in and out of closed doors. Maybe Jack is training you
Kiko will do it nonstop if its not opened quickly enough
Snowball sleeps upstairs in his room with Jim and sometimes the cats want in there so bad and will scratch forever, mainly Kiko.

Whatever it is like Jan said, Bless his cotton socks

Yes, he pushed it closed on purpose. I opened it again late saturday evening when he started doing it, but then he just sat as if to say "What did you do that for?!", like i spoilt his fun?

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
That would definitely be Flowerbelle. She opens the drawers under our bed. It'll take her a few minutes to get the paw in to pull them open. If I open it for her - she looks at me like I ruined her fun and she walks away!

pepe loves doing that to my hamper full of dirty clothes!!!
Like they said he might be marking his scent or he just likes the way the door feels on his toes?

I wonder if he is doing it for attention, only Tallulah is doing the same in the bath and the noise effect gets either myself or the other cats to investigate what is going on, she usually does it on the big scratching post as well, when she wants to initiate play and some other cat to give her a chase.

Does Rosie and Sophie come to have a look at what he is doing?

The Beehave State!
Jake used to do that to a door when he wanted on the other side. Or he'd do it to the walls around his food bowl (marking). But in Jack's case... I have no clue!
He's so cute though, I'd let him get away with it!
