He seems to have a recurring problem with one of his eyes. I'm not sure if he gets dust or grit in it, but one of them is regularly weeping , causing him to scratch it. He's lost some fur above his right eye as you can see from the picture. If it gets any worse we'll obviously need to make a trip to the vet.

My cat, Phoebe, gets the same thing...and then it goes away sometimes the same day. She doesn't have any weeping from the eye...but it does close somewhat..and she scratches at it. It does look sore. I don't take her to the Vet for it....but have mentioned it when she's gone for her check-ups...and the Vet isn't too concerned...as her eyes look very good when he examines them.

I was thinking that it could be caused by an allergy...she's a totally indoor car and didn't/doesn't fight with with either the late Max
,or with Samson...

If you do take your Max to the Vet, I'd be interested in knowing what she/he says about it.

In the meantime, I hope he recovers quickly from it...poor kitty!

We tried to discourage him from jumping the jump initially, but obviously to no avail. It's second nature to him now, he even jumps directly down from the highest one!

All my cats at their various ages also liked to sit high...usually on top of the fridge...the highest point available to them....but as they aged...they grew smarter and stopped jumping up. They must have known it bothered me....
.....good kitties!!

last year, patchys eye suddenly swelled up and i when i took her to the vet, it was discovered her 3rd eyelid had a claw that had poked in and out of it. we dont know if chloe and patches were fighting and it happened or she did it herself while scratching her ear but luckily no damage was done to the cornea. i just had to put antibiotic ointment in it a few times a day

her eye now weeps randomly and the vet (second vet, MUCH BETTER VET) said her eye very healthy, no scar tissue but it the eye may be sensitive the rest of her life from the incident and weep.
your kitties may have had something like this happen at some point (i dont know if youve had them their entire lives)
