These questions can be answered whether you have a longhaired or not. The questions pertain to today's KatKwiz, also located here in the Lounge, but you do not need to even see KatKwiz to participate in KatKwery.

What do you like the most about longhaired cats? What do you like the least about longhaired cats? Have you ever went to Meow.com before? Have you ever purchased anything from Meow.com? Would you know how to find a DVD on grooming a longhaired cat on Meow.com?

Note: As before, answers will be given the next day. But now, the answers will be given and points awarded when the next KatKwery is posted. This is to allow a whole day for people to be able to use any of the five secret words.
Let's chat!

I have never had a long haired cat so I can't really comment on what I like most or least. I think I've been to Meowhoo.com once before today, just to see what it was. I didn't even know there were videos on grooming long haired cat before todays Katkwiz.

i love the way longhaired cats look - especially non-Persians [not a big fan of the extreme face on today's Persians]. altho mjazzu's Max is a real stunner! they just look so elegant & fancy! but i've never owned one - too much maintenance! besides, my semi-fluffy DSHs that need brushing/combing [Pixel & Chip] are enough to keep me busy! i've been to Meow.com many times... can't remember if i've ever purchased anything from the shopping links, but i know i've at least 'window-shopped' there. i'd probably look there if i had no idea where to purchase a particular item [like the DVD mentioned].

I love the way long haired cats can look so regal, Chesters fur gets all fluffy and he looks like a lion. Plus fluffy tails are fun to play with
The upkeep is something I dont like so much. My two tangle over night if I dont keep them brushed all the time. Im not sure that Ive even heard of meow.com before so no I havent bought anything there. Also no idea how you could find anything, unless they have a search feature.

I answer my own questions NOT knowing the secret words. I swear to that. I make no points answering my own questions and only do so to add to the discussion and to show how I would go about trying to use the secret words. I only have a slight edge on the rest of you because I never know what is going to pop out of DW's mouth as the words for these questions, I assure you. I also do this because it is fun. I try to get more secret words than the rest of you, but you will never know whether I am using any of them or not!
This is the last time I will explain why I am doing this. My answers:

I think longhaireds are just more beautiful than other cats, it's simple to me. I love to run my hands through their long hair and mash my face into their long fur. Maintenance of course is the downside. I bond with Persi when I am grooming him but no matter how much I groom him, there are puffs of fur everywhere, especially now that we have wooden stairs. I didn't always know Meowl.com was there, noticed it early in looking for new KatKwiz questions. Today's KatKwiz question was a result of me actually looking for a video on grooming however and I thought I would use it. Yes, I think I will purchase this DVD, I am not sure how this helps Meow.com and in turn helps TCS but am sure there is a positive result.

What I like most about LH cats is their beauty! There is something about that long flowing coat that compels you to want to touch it! Then again, I want to touch all critters!

What I like least is their tendency to matt. I just took one of my most awesome dog grooming tools after Coal Monsta last night and got nearly a shopping bag full of fur outta him.
Obviously, if I were to keep up on his coat maintenance better I would not have gotten that much, but I must say that I love the Mars Coat King!!! Works great on all heavy coated animals!

I've never clicked on the meowhoo.com link before and I've never bought anything from there. I shop so many other pet sites and I have been very pleased with their prices and service so I guess I don't shop around.

I like the way they look and how soft the fur feels when you pet them! I dont think they shed as bad as some people say they do either! Ive always tried to pick out the longhaired kittens when I get new cats but it never fails, they turn out to be a medium hair or short hair kitty! Ive never been to Meow.com before! So Ive obviously not bought anything from there! I dont know if Id be able to, but I think I could find it if I needed too! I always loved grooming a long hair kitty! I think that short hair kitties shed worse than long haired ones... I had all kinds of different brushes and combs when I had long hairs! I dont think there is anything I dislike about a long hair at all! They're great! Ive always found that my long hairs are skinnier than my short hairs too! Maybe thats just me though!

To me, longhaired cats look cuddly and fluffy! I like longhaired cats but the daily care would be too much for me. I would not have time to brush and comb them everyday. The one cat I had that was longhaired would get mats in his fur. I have a mild allergy to cats with long hair because of the shedding. I don't have nearly as much problems with shorthaired kitties. I never have been on Meow.com but will check it out sometime when my life is less hectic.

I always had shorthaired cats growing up, and pretty much met my first longhair when I met my hubby. She was an odd-eyed white longhair, that was very Turkish Angora-like in type. I never learned that you needed to groom a cat, so I didn't really brush her, but she had an undercoat which would mat occasionally so she would sit on my lap and I would pick out her mats. (That's what my grandmother did with her longhaired female cat.
) It was sort of a bonding time.

I've never sought out a longhaired cat on purpose, but when I'm looking, my eye is drawn to the longhairs. They look very fluffy and elegant, I suppose. Right now I have 3 longhaired cats, and their grooming needs are pretty negligible. Tigger doesn't mat at all, Nadette only mats when she gets a piece of grass or dirt in her fur (like an oyster) and Smudge sometimes gets a mat here or there under his front legs. I don't know WHY they don't mat, I think that's kind of weird. Maybe they are just the correct cross that doesn't have much of an undercoat.
