I woke up this morning to a windows system message saying that my computer was infected that CA Antivirus had quarantined 2 win32 system files because they had been replaced by unknown ones, and that I had to insert my Windows XP Pro CD to restore the files!!

I don't have a Windows XP Pro CD! All the computer place gave me was some restore disk to use.

Anyway, after a mild panic attack ... ok, major one that involved me calling a friend who did some work on my computer last year, I did a google search only to find that the report is a false positive thanks to the lastest update from CA Antivirus!

I restored the files from the quarantine, but not before copying whatever files I don't want to lose from my C and D drive over to my external hard drive (just in case). And now I sit waiting for CA Antivirus to fix their mistake!

Ugg!!

I use AVG and I've been very happy with it. Never had any problems with the AV or the firewall. Their total internet protection package is a whole different story, though. I think it was released before it was really ready, so as to have a Vista-compatible product on the shelf when Vista came out. I'm sure in time it'll be a good product, if AVG is any indication.
