Anyone else have a cat that does this?

Whenever Pixel gets into the litter box (whether she uses it or not) she wipes her paws on the edges of the litter box, sometimes all up and down one edge. It is almost like the feel of the litter on her feet makes her want to wipe her tiny paws clean to get anything off of them.

It is really funny, though. I feel like I should get her a special little mat to wipe her paws on. She always washes them right after she gets out of the litterbox, too. Such a little princess. She covers everything she does very thoroughly, too.

Bamf just gets in, does his thing, takes a few swipes to sort of halfway cover his mess, then gets right back out without a care in the world.

Kitties are funny.

Yes I have one who does that and she cleans all the surrounding walls, and another one who just flys out of the litter box covering nothing up, goes zooming around the house and usually drops a bit of poo somewhere, and I have to guess where it is

YES! patchy does it. i noticed yesterday when i happened to be in there while she was peeing that she pees with her front paws on the side of the box. when shes done, she doesnt cover (which ive mentioned in other threads) but she wipes her paws on the side of the box and then on the rug under the box. then she gets out and washes her paws. LOL

i should mention her full name is princess patches the piglet LOL she goes LITERALLY from food to box, food to box, like shes making room for food and more food but *only* after a big nap. my mom said she fits right in the family since most of us are like that

Kitties are so funny! It is fun to hear about everyone else's silly cats. Patchy sounds especially funny. I think Pixel cleans the wall around the litter box, too. I saw her wiping the wall!

My baby does that, too. It sounded like she was digging but one day when I looked, I saw her wiping her paws on the edge/wall of litter box just like you described. I still don't know why she does that but yeah, it really cracks me up everytime I see her doing it

Mine like to knead the side of the litter box as well. It has higher walls with rounded corners, so they'll usually scratch at those once they are done covering. When I have the top off to clean, they will get inside that and start scratching at the sides as well.

They probably do it for the same reason that they feel the need to hop into the litter box and use it as I'm scooping it, or right after it's cleaned (I mean, the litter barely hits the bottom of the box, and they're there) - they are kittens and they like to do things that make no sense to their humans!

There's no place like home
I also have a wall cleaner. We call her the house "snitch" because she is also the one that will find hairballs and try to bury them. I think she's just overly meticulously clean and doesn't like things out of place.

both of mine are long haired and i just give them butt cuts when they need it. it doesnt have to be pretty; its more like i get the scissors and when they arent looking and are standing still i give them a few snips on the tush!

just be careful of fast turn arounds to see
youre doing to their butts lol

as for wall cleaning, i dont know what it is about my new place, but my cats like to sniff the walls. it was painted right before i moved in and theyre always sniffing the paint LOL i think theyre getting high

i didnt say anything bad, just w t f hahaha

are you talking about my patchy? if so, thank you. she knows it, too. its kept her from being dropped off at the chinese restaurant many times jk jk

both my litterboxes have cheap cotton rugs under them since the kitties like to wipe their paws (and sometimes their butt, in cases of dingleberries) on the living room carpet. i just throw the rugs in the washer. i got them at walmart where they have the bigger rugs. i think i paid like $5 each for them. theyre 2'x3.5 or something close to that

those little rugs are quite helpful, esp when ive walked in the living room before and thought "what are those brown streaks and where did the come from?" and then made the mistake of touching them LOL

as for patchy - thanks! shes a total diva-esque brat, esp when it comes to food. once she even tried to smother me with my pillow after i put it over my face to pretend i was asleep and to hide the fact i was laughing.
she stuck her head under the pillow and realized i was doing both, then straddled the pillow and tried to suffocate me, stuck her paw under it and slapped across the face.
i couldnt help but laugh more. she did stick her head back under the pillow and meow at me some more. she didnt get any more food (she had fresh food -she just didnt want that flavor, plus it was 3am)

shes always doing things like this. i got her at petsmart and she'd only been at the shelter for 12 days. she was still all covered in fleas and only weighed 4lbs. i have to wonder if it was her diva-like ways that got her sent out early
