My 9 month old neutered male BSH cat (Arnie) is being tormented by a neighbour's cat which is a much larger long-haired male...possibly part ragdoll although I am no expert. This cat is clearly the dominant one (older and bigger so understandable). It only started a few weeks ago. At first the cat just chased Arnie out of our garden....then he started to chase him up trees and wait at the bottom growling until we chased him off to get Arnie down...now he is coming into our house...through open windows or doors..eats all Arnie's food and won't let him in or traps him upstairs if already inside. It even waits outside our back door and meows to come in as if it lives here! We have tried spraying it with water, dousing it with water from a bucket, squirting lemon juice at it...all to no avail. It comes back 5 minutes later as though nothing has happened. Is not frightened of us at all and is in fact very placid with people. I don't really want to be feeding a second cat premium cat food whilst having Arnie a prisoner up a tree or in my bedroom! He is clearly getting very distressed by it all. Any ideas?! Please help!

Call the owners and tell them if they don't control their cat, keep him out of your garden, you will call whatever agency there is used for animal control and then do it the first time he comes around - or else keep Annie indoors or in an enclosure. You must take some control, one way or another, or you will not only lose your cat (one way or another) but your house will be ruined.

I know you don't want to keep your cat inside, but I would build/buy a cat enclosure for your cat to enjoy himself without being harassed by a neighbor's cat. And your cat's food will be safe too.

Also talk to your neighbor. I'm sure your cat is not the only one its harassing.

Here in the states, we would solve the problem by just keeping the cat inside or training to harness/leash and sitting out with them for awhile

The neighbor's cat is even dominating you!

Spread some of Arnie's used cat litter along the border of the garden. Then use sound as a cat deterrent. If your clapping, NO, GO HOME do not work, use a horn. That cat even though a dominant one, must understand that your home is Arnie's territory.
