So for the last week Chestnut and Gizmo have been fighting like its nobody's busiess! Noone has gotten hurt yet, but I see it getting worse daily. Yesterday Gizmo had chased Chestnut under a chair and when I pulled them apart Gizmo had a tuft of fur in his mouth

They are both neutered males and in good health. Chesnut is 6 and very laid back, Gizmo is 3 and still has a lot of kittnen in him, but they have been together for the last 6 months and they have only been fighting THIS badly for the last week... any advice? I have them sperated right now because of all the fighting...

couple of ideas:
any male cats in the area that have been spraying near your house?
possibly Chestnut is ailing - another member posted in another thread that sometimes cats will show agression towards a sick housemate.

ETA: got cat's name wrong

Could one cat be trying to establish dominance over the other? Or, is it possible that it's just rough play?

I thought it was just rough play at first, but as soon as Chestnut hear's Gizmo comming (they have bells on their collars) he jumps and gets that "deer in headlights" look to his eyes...
