Greetings guys.

My fiance and I might be moving to New York fairly soon (say in about 3 - 6 months) and I was just wondering if anyone had useful advice regarding the place?

You know, like do's and dont's, what the place is like, things to do and places to visit, info on natural disasters, safety and security, etc.

Also please advise on quarantine procedures for cats (duration, costs, etc)

I live right next to NY in NJ. I wouldn't advise anyone moving to NY unless you absolutely have too. It is not the safest place to live but it does have it's advantages. There are many, many things to see and do in NY. Tourists just love it but they can leave. Depending on what part of NY you move too makes a big difference also. You will sweat in the summer and freeze in the winter so have the correct wardrobe for both. Don't know if you need to quarantine your kits unless you're coming from another Country. Good luck to you but if you don't really have to move to NY...don't.

If you dont LIVE in NY, then you really cant say much can you??

I do LIVE in Ny, upstate as a matter of fact!! I LOVE it! yes, it can be cold in the winter, extremes is -20 in the winter. Depends on WHERE in NY your going to be as well. Research the area WELL. Check websites and order relocation packets. New York is a great state! It has its bad times as well as its good, but if your a hard worker, and know your stuff, you can get ahead very well! Pm me any time.

The only thing I've heard is that it is pretty expensive to live in New York City so you'd have to have a pretty well-paid job. The state of New York, of course, is a different story and living conditions, pay, etc. will vary from city to city, town to town.

I certainly don't live very close to NY, but I have been there once on a trip with relatives, and I think all of us that went agree - we don't plan on going back anytime soon. Just my opinion, but I can't imagine living there.

I live smack dab in the middle of NYC - Midtown Manhattan - and I've lived here since 1971. Wouldn't live anywhere else.

Whatta ya wanna know?
