I am caring for a stray and her 4 kittens. 2 I am keeping and 2 I am taking to the shelter.
My stray, Lucia is most definitely already pregnant again. I am debating on either keeping her in my basement in confinement until she gives birth and then foster them all or taking her and the kittens into the shelter as is.
I could keep her as an outdoor cat but some of the neighbors are complaining about her on their lawn furniture. My fear is that as a black cat she would sit in a cage for a long long time. She is such a sweet girl and loves to talk and headbutt.
I can't keep her inside because my wild child Mary is an Alpha female and is intent on being the boss. Lucia is an Alpha female too. Mary is relentless and territorial so I only adopt kittens. Keeping Lucia indoors is out of the question.
Should I capture her, I don't need a trap she lets me hold her and take her in for a check up tonight? But that would leave the kittens defenseless. They are 7 weeks old. I could feasibly trap them but if she is around she will go in first. If she is not around I am scared for them. My brother wants to kitten grab first and then her last. But we need to catch them now and kitten grabbing is not easy.
What should I do?
