As so, as the sun sets in the west, my week in the Spotlight comes to a close -- and not a moment too soon, because my long, long answers were beginning to bog down the TCS server.

And now it is my honor to pass along the mantle of TCS Spotlightdom to our dear friend...

Kiwideus, aka Kellye!

Here are a couple of quick ones to start us off:

1. Kellye, did your parents add that graceful little E on the end of your name, or did you do that yourself?

2. On the news today, I saw a clip of New Zealand troops in Afghanistan demonstrating a traditional Maori dance. Do you see a lot of Maori culture where you are, or is it mostly confined to museums?

Kiwideus, aka Kellye!

Thank you Carol!

Here are a couple of quick ones to start us off:

1. Kellye, did your parents add that graceful little E on the end of your name, or did you do that yourself?
I am named for my Grandmother - Kelly was her last name and my mother wanted to name me after her, but wanted it to sound a bit feminine, so she added the E.

2. On the news today, I saw a clip of New Zealand troops in Afghanistan demonstrating a traditional Maori dance. Do you see a lot of Maori culture where you are, or is it mostly confined to museums?
Maori culture is everywhere. At the beginning of meetings, we have a blessing called a karakia
Every time the New Zealand All Blacks - a rugby team - play against another country, a tradition war dance is performed - this is called the Haka.
If we enter a Marae, which is a Maori meeting house, we need to be welcomed onto it - in the form of a Karanga and often when people are there, they are asked to give a hongi - a touching of the noses.

A lot of us, well I do anyway - call white people 'pakeha' which is the Maori translation of white person.
Lots of us say 'Kia Ora' as a greeting.
My grandmother was a Maori - we are descended from the Ngati Kahungunu tribe, our iwi (people) are in Wairoa in the Hawkes Bay area.

You cannot really avoid Maori culture in NZ - it is taught in schools (Te Reo Maori) and we often have the maori word underneath any signs and a lot of place names are in Maori.
I have rambled on but there is so much to tell about the Maori culture.
You can probably find it all there:

By the way, my cat Kahu's name is Maori - his full name is Kahurangi and this means precious and blue, to name a few. Describes his eyes perfectly, doesn't it?

I will collect anything with pigs on or in the shape of pigs - I just adore them and the cuteness that they exude! My recent birthday gift was a little tabletop vacuum cleaner in the shape of a pig - it sucks crumbs up its nose!
You can see it here at this website! http://www.decuisine.co.uk/cookshop/...-cleaners.html

Do the cats get piggy toys?
They certainly do - Peedoodle has a pig that he carries everywhere.
It is always on the bed or next to it every morning. Sometimes he will sleep with it.

That vacuum is great!
Pepper has a big stuffed cow that he can't live without so I know all about favorite livestock toys, lol.
Just out of curiosity, what time is it there? I have an obsession with time for some reason. It is currently 1151PM here in OH.

- ¿Do you to know MÃ[emoji]169[/emoji]xico?
…as a country or as a city?
I know of Mexico as a country and Mexico City. I would love to visit one day!
2.- ¿Wich part exactly?

I have never been there, I would love to!
3.- Have you ever hearded about MÃ[emoji]169[/emoji]rida Yucatán MÃ[emoji]169[/emoji]xico???? Is the place where I´m live!

I have heard of the Yucatan - it sticks out on the side of Mexico, doesn't it?
4.- Can you speak spanish?
I only know a little bit as I have a friend from Colombia - so far I just know 'Hola', 'Como estas', 'ensalada'

5.- Do you have some CD of Spanish music? do you like it?

Never heard spanish music.
6.- Have you ever to watched a Mexican Movie? ( I mean with Spanish Dialogs?)
I don't think I have - but I have watched several movies made by Guillermo del Toro. Does that count?
7.-Do you like the Mexican Food?
( do you have any preference for example: burritos, Tacos, rice & beans, etc?)
I absolutely LOVE mexican food. There is a burrito place in town near my work that is owned by a Cuban woman - I go there so often - it is like Subway but with Burritoes only. I normally go there every Friday.
I miss the yummy melted cheese sauce that you can get in the US - that was my favourite food, and still is. Anyone have a recipe for that cheese sauce??

8.-Do you like the Tequila?
...or else Mexican Alcoholic beverage?
I do like tequila - if I am at a friends - we always end up having tequila shots.
I also like to drink corona and margaritas.

9.- Have you ever to sleeped in a hammock?
Sleep, no but just relaxed. They are so comfortable!
10.- Have you ever to saw the traditional mexican clothes?

No, but Ugly Betty's poncho springs to mind that her dad got from Guadalajara.

1. If I were to visit you, where would you take me first and what food would you have me try? That is a tough choice - I would probably take you all over the South Island - there is so much to see, we have a great variety of scenes that are worth viewing! Pavlova would be my first treat!

2. Where's your favourite location in New Zealand?
It is a toss up between two places - Nelson at the top of the South Island and Akaroa over the hill from here.

3. In 5 years, where do you want to be living and what do you want to be doing?
I have no idea where I want to be living next - but I would like to work in a lab. Hopefully my studies will be done by then!

4. If you won the lottery, what would you do with the money?
Visit my TCS friends! I hope you have room for me at your house!

5. Do you listen to a lot of music? If yes, who is your favourite band/artist?
I have to really crank it up to listen to it - can't hear it, and have to be wearing headphones but if I do listen it is either the Foo Fighters or the Doors.

6. If you could take a vacation, anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Africa. Definitely Africa. Its always been a girlhood dream to visit.

7. What's your cats favourite treats?
Greenies. Even Kahu likes them and he is so finicky.

8. How expensive is housing in your area? What's the average purchase price?
It is quite expensive here - the prices start around $250K for an average sized house and theres no guarantee that it would be in good condition.

9. How did you find TCS?
Peedoodle was vomiting and I wanted to know what I needed to do.

10. Do you have a passion? What could you spend hours doing and never tire of? Or, have you not found it yet?
Does eating count?
Honestly, I don't think I have found my passion yet. How sad is that?

You mean chili con queso? I love it too! I'm sure there are lots of better, more authentic ways to make it -- maybe Rigel can tell us! -- but all I do is put a brick of Velveeta and a couple of jars of Paul Newman's Pineapple Salsa in a double boiler and stir them together as the cheese melts. Any salsa you like will do, but I love the way the tang of the pineapple cuts the creaminess of the cheese...
