cat n00b

Thread Starter

I am a recently converted cat lover and will be looking to get one ASAP.

However i am a bit concerend i may be allergic to them. An allergy test kit is on it's way so i'm hoping it will show negative.

So i have a few questions i need answering.

I need a quite independent cat as me and my girlfriend can be out for 9 hours a day aswell as some weekends.

A neighbour which has now moved had a lovely grey cat, quite small and vocal. i have a pic

Does anyone know the breed of this cat as something similar would be perfect, and anymore advice on breeds aswell as allergy advice would be great.

I can't give advice on allergies as I don't have them myself. Hopefully your test will come back negative.

As far as you being gone for 9 hours a day I really don't see that as a problem with an adult cat. Sometimes I see them in pairs at the shelter quite bonded to each other and the owner dropped them off together for whatever reason. Perhaps adopting a pair like that would be beneficial as one could have some company while you are gone. Either way though, I personally don't think any of my cats would care if they were left alone for that long by themselves.

As far as the breed of cat in the photo it really doesn't look like any particular breed to me. Probably just a mix.

Good luck on your test results and your search for a kitty! Thanks for considering rescue!

welcome to TCS!

He doesnt look like any certain breed to me, I think he is just one of the mixed breeds, probably descended from streetcats of some sort.

Sorry, I dont know much about allergies and cats, but I hope it comes back negative and that you can get the furbaby of your dreams!
