Thanks everyone!

My mom is back home, she came home Tuesday evening...the insurance wouldn't pay for any more time there.
She looked so weak and sick she had me scared but last night she started looking a bit better and today looks better still, and actually is eating a bit (she hadn't been able to eat for about 5 days).

She has heart failure (fluid around the heart, her renal numbers aren't great but not bad enough for dialysis and is hypothyroid all along with her previous conditions, diabetes, HBP...ect. So I will have to make sure she takes all of her meds...she doesn't always want to take her diuretic so that will be a struggle!

Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers!

Diane i'm just seeing this now
Lots of mega healthy coming for your mum

I'm so pleased the UK doesn't have the same medical system as the USA. Are you saying because her insurance ran out they just sent her home?!

She has congestive heart failure?? I hope she takes her meds to ease her condition.

If she is on Medicare they may only allow so many days in the hospital then would discharge to a nursing home or back to the patients home.

So what would happen if she needed hospital care, would they take her back in?.

I believe yes but it has to be proven. Or you pay our of your pocket.

My SIL who is in a nursing home due to her stroke is covered my Medicaid as she is only 54 (Medicare you have to be 65) and they will only pay for a certain amt of things such a physical therapy vs having private coverage which may cover more.

That's just awful
I wonder why you don't adopt the same system we have where you pay a small amount from your weekly wage and your covered for any emergencies or situations like Dianes mum

Universal health care-the government has been working on that for years.

Yes, sorry I mis-wrote that as just heart failure. She is taking her meds but I have to make sure she gets her diuretics especially.

They would have to admit her again but I have no idea how long the insurance would cover her again...it is frustrating, our current health system really needs an overhaul for sure.

I know that this is very worrisome for you Diane.
The US health care system is so broken.

Your Mother remains in my prayers.

Wishing I were anywhere but here
I hope your mom continues to get better - even if it means small steps. Remember, two steps forward and one step back. It will take some time, but always better in the right direction.
