Hello fellow cat lovers,

I have a 15 year old lap cat named Junebug. He loves to sleep on my lap whenever he gets the chance. Whenever he's on my lap though, he often twitches. He isn't sleeping... just lazing around. Usually he twitches his arms and paws. They are jolting twitches. These twitches don't seem to bother him too much. He is otherwise in good health.

Is this a bad sign, or is he simply laying on a nerve and doesn't like the feeling as his arm falls asleep? It is, after all, pretty uncomfortable sleeping on my bony legs.

My older cat does this as well. I'm not too concerned with it. I've mentioned it to the vet and he just chalks it up to aging, but did say to watch it and if it gets worse, to bring her back in.

My renal failure kitty, Cleo, has twitches...sort of like a subtle shiver, which involves her whole body. At first, I thought she was cold, but it happened during the summer, as well as the winter. I asked about it on the Feline-CRF-Support site, and they told me to supplement B-Complex vitamins. I started supplementing a little over a year ago, and her shivering has completely gone away. The nice thing about B complex vitamins is that it is impossible to overdose on them because they are water soluable, and any excess is eliminated in the urine.

Good luck!
