ok my cat keeta is 2 years old, male, neutered, and a bit overweight. anyways a week ago he started to pee and poo on this rug under my dining room table. we took the rug out, and he began to go to the box again. but today he peed on the floor where the rug was. the thing is he pees in the exact same spot everytime. is he spraying?

from what i read spraying is done vertically and not directly on the floor. plus he did take a dump on that spot once too. there is a neighbourhood cat that walks around sometimes and they don't really like eachother but i havent seen it in months. i live near a forest and we do get a lot of birds and squerrils though. does anyone know what's going on?

we thought he had some kind of bladder infection so we gave him small doses of penicillin and it looked like it helped since he was going to the box, but not anymore.

Did you take him to a vet? or just assume he had a bladder infection? There could be more going on that may require more care then just an antibiotic could provide (special balanced diet, for example).

How many litter boxes do you have? If only one, it may help to add another.

it's very possible your kitty has a UTI [urinary tract infection]. rather than treat it yourself, i would highly recommend you take him in to the vet - there are medications that would be more likely to have the desired effect that you can't get w/o a vet's script.
