I live on 6th floor of a high-rise and my cat is almost 9 months old.
I used to let him out on the balcony all the time but now he is able to jump on the wall. When I saw him do that I do not let him out by himself anymore and only let him out when I'm out with him.

I would like to know that, worst case scenario, if he jumps over or falls. Would he be hurt? It's the 6th floor. If not then I'll have to net the whole balcony.. argh!

I would really net the balcony, there are so many injuries where cats have jumped and really hurt themselves, not just from balconies but from open windows. Even if you are supervising a cat they can be very quick, its just not worth the risk.

Can they get stuck in the net? That's another issue.

Please don't let him out on the balcony. Believe it or not cats can get hurt falling from just a one story balcony....he can have fun viewing the world from the window

Just be careful that the screens are secure so they don't pop out. My cat Ree Ree was around your cats age when he started to JUMP after bugs and birds and was slowly breaking down the screens because he was getting bigger and heavier quicker than I realized.

I live 3 stories up. Scary. I also have a balcony and just don't want to go through the fuss of netting the whole thing. But I know there are some people who have...hopfully they can come along and give you ideas

But till then...please keep that precious kitty safe and indoors.
