Hi all,
My 5-week old foster kittens have just started eating regular food (mom is with them) and one of them has smelly and runny stools (the other 3 are fine). They've been eating Max Cat kitten food (canned) and Royal Canin baby 34. Would it be ok to give her acidohpilous or another probiotic? I suspect the runny stools are due to the food. Or should I try another food? (They aren't due to go to the vet for another 1 or two weeks so they'll get dewormed then--they are fosters and it's not my call, but if they were seriously ill then I could taken them in.)

I have used Lactinex Granules with great success. It was recommended by my breeder. I don't know about Canada but here in Texas we get it behind the counter at the pharmacy. However, it is not prescription. Anyone can get it but has to be kept refrigerated. It works wonder firmer poop in oneday and better in 3 days max.

My vet recommended Culturelle. I'm dividing the contents of the capsule and mixing one fourth in Ben's food once per day. While we still have some diarrhea, it has helped over the last week. Now if only I could get him to poop in the litter box every time.
