Regardless of how you feel about Al Gore, that shouldn't really make or break the case for global warming for you. We knew it was a fact before anyone knew who Gore was, and even if some of the things he has said were hyperbole, the general idea is still right.
Would it be better if I said you should get rid of your SUV and ride a bicycle to work? After all, I don't own a car or eat meat (which uses as many resources as driving). I live in a 300-sq-ft apt with another person, turn off the a/c whenever I can, walk or ride a biofuel-driven bus everywhere. Would you listen to me? Most people wouldn't, but people like Gore have the platform to speak from.
And again, Gore never said everyone had to ride a bike to work. He said it would be helpful if we all did what we could.
