My next door neighbor saved a very young kitten from being crushed in a car at the junkyard.

The kitten at that time couldn't have been more than 6-8 days old I would say--eyes open but tiny.

It has been about 2 weeks since they got him, they are feeding him KMR and he seems to be doing well.

What is an approximate weight for a 3 week old kitten?

I know they should take him to the vet, but they won't. Unfortunately I can't afford to as I just took on a new cat myself.

Thanks--I wrote out the weights, I'll be taking them and a scale to the neighbors soon.

Hopefully the little guy is on target.

I had to laugh at that weight as my 12 day old kitten is 300 grams already! hehee but he is a MOOSE. but as long as the kitten is gaining then what the ave weight is doesn't really matter.

On average you can figure about a pound per month of age. So at 4 weeks old they would be about a pound, 8 weeks old - 2 lbs, etc.

It's hard to figure out what he should weigh when your not sure how old he is. It'll be easier once the kitten has been eating lots of good food for maybe two weeks. then you'll be able to get an accurate idea of how old the kitten is. My vet once told me that kittens rarely eat more than they should (even if it doesnt seem that way
) so you can figure weight=age like GoldenKitty45 said, about a pound of weight for each month of age.
