A man in Woodstock, CT has been building a castle on his property for the last six years and it's probably not close to being finished yet. Unfortunately, he couldn't be reached for comment. I think it's sweet and I want one.

I don't think it's over kill at all. You can't have too many defenses for your castle.

That is cool, too. Even better, it has its own island. That makes it easier to defend in the case of siege.

You'd probably like these real ones (my favorites):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burg_Hohenzollern (click on the photos for enlargements)

As far as I'm concerned, both of them are "must-sees" for guests, especially Salzburg's fortress, as the city itself and the area are breathtaking.

It's a 2 1/2-hour drive from where I live, so if you're ever in the "neighborhood" (SW Germany).... I've spent more than half my life in Europe at this point, and my fascination with "real" castles and cathedrals still drives my German hubby crazy.

Heidelberg Castle is also a "day trip" from here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heidelberg_Castle

That's so neat! I want to see what the inside of the castle is going to look like when it's all finished!!!! Haha i want a castle too (Just not the energy bill to go along with it- i'm assuming he isn't building it "green")
