Spraying?

Hi everyone- haven't been here in ages!!!

Here's my problem.


For the past couple months, I've been noticing pee-puddles in random areas around the house. I thought for sure it was my dog- he's a bit of a nutbar and sometimes forgets his manners!

HOWEVER- today, my mom and sister were in the kitchen. Blue, my 3 yr spayed female cat, sauntered into the room, backed up against a chair, and pee'd on it!! Blue is otherwise the best behaved cat in the house!

What causes a FEMALE cat to spray/mark?

She goes outside, has a litter box... I don't understand why she feels such a great responsibility of having to take a leak in the kitchen all the time...

Hi and welcome back!

My Joji (spayed) will spray if she smells something that may be upsetting to her like a strange cat, a new place or thing. She was the alpha for a long time, goes outside and was originally a feral.
