I got 2 (F) 11 week old kittens today. I didn't wanna use the clay litters because I wanted to try to be environmentally friendly and also that dust annoys me. I picked up some feline pine, 1 kitten took to it without asking. The 2nd one on the other hand popped on a blanket that was folded up in the corner. I'm thinking perhaps the blanket looked like a litter box an was softer on her feet? Should I be trying something like yesterday's new? Neither kitten was from a shelter but rather from a home with mom and 6 kittens. They where using something like fresh step from what I could see.
Also the one who had an issue ate way to much canned food which was my fault but I assumed she was just hungry and let her keep chomping it down. I also gave them some cat milk I got from petsmart too.

Welcome to TheCatSite.

If you have not had your kitties checked by a vet, I would highly recommend that you do, to be sure they are healthy, have had their inoculations, worming etc.

I am sure that members will have some excellent feedback for you soon.
Have you named your sweeties yet?

I currently have four 5 week old kittens who are learning to use the litter box. I put out 2 small boxes 3 days ago, one with feline pine and one with swheat scoop. The pine box hasn't been touched but most if not all of them are already using the swheat scoop. I think cats naturally prefer granular stuff. Also if your kittens are used to the texture of fresh step then they'll probably prefer something granular. If you want to switch them over to feline pine then I would do it gradually, mixing a bit of it with their old litter and adding more and more each time you change it.
