Well, I said I would...

I said that I'd come and introduce myself, and here I am. My name is Alie, I'm a vegetarian, I'm 20 and I live in British Columbia, Canada. I've loved animals all my life and I'm going to be moving back to Saskatoon (I lived there for a year before coming out here) so that I can start at the University of Saskatchewan (I'm told it's the best school for veterinary medicine in North America). I lived in Winnipeg, MB, until I was 18 and I still think of it as home, especially my beloved Saint Boniface. Then I moved to Saskatoon so I could get academically set up to go to their University (there I go repeating myself, lol). Now I'm out here, but I'm going back there in just a few weeks. Umm... I'm a pretty typical Aries (basically, just read anything about the Aries personality, and that's pretty much me to a T). I like to talk a lot, which you'll notice, lol. I write (poems, songs, stories), I sing, I play alto sax, piano, clarinet, and the recorder, I'm just learning guitar (teaching myself). I've actually been reading music since before I could read words, lol. I started playing the piano by watching when my mother would play, and then playing what she did. Learned by immitation, hehe. I love languages and I'm a total Grammar-Freak; I've been correcting the grammar of those around me since I could talk, lol. Latin is my favourite language but I can't seem to find a class that I can afford, so I may have to just stick with little phrases here and there (for now). I speak English (thank you, Captain Obvious, lol!) and French. When I was learning to speak, I spoke English with my father and French with my mom, so I don't actually have a first language, I learned them both at the same time. I can also read Anglo-Saxon, I'm not the best at it, but I can muddle through. I'm the self-acclaimed Queen of the Nerds, and I enjoy all things Nerdy. I'm a little eccentric, and often called the Crazy Cat Lady, which describes me very well, lol. Umm, this is getting kinda long, so I'll just leave this at that, but you can ask any questions you like, and unless it's overly personal I'll answer.

I guess you wanna know a bit about my fur babies, too...

I have a rabbit (Mimi), and 6 cats (Taz, Sadie, Chai (was a stray), Baby (who was also a stray), Ares [who is Sadie's son], and Nyx [who is Chai's son]). But I live with my Mom right now, and she has a cat, too (Charlie [who is Lilly's son]) and a miniature poodle (Sandy). Sadie just had a litter of 6 and Chai is pregnant; Taz is fixed, Mimi is fixed, Baby is infertile, and none of the boys in our house are fixed (except for Sandy). I had another cat named Lilly, another stray, but I had found her a home with a family who had recently lost their cat of 10 years. Five weeks after having a litter of 8 (3 died days after they were born), she was killed by a car. The family decided to keep 2 of the kittens after Lilly died, and I found homes for the rest: my sister took the Siamese-looking female (Mouse), my best-friend the black male (Tar), and my mom the orange tabby (Charlie). Charlie's the one who got Sadie pregnant (Ares and Nyx are too young to do that; too young to be fixed, too), and even if the boys were old enough to impregnant my queens, I'd know it was Prince Charles (as we call him) because there's a kitten that looks like his beautiful mother Lilly, and another that looks like his Siamese-wannabe sister Mouse.

My very first cat was given to me when I was six months old, the kitten was six weeks old, he was black with a white spot on his chest and we called him Midnight. In October of the year that he and I turned 18, he disappeared. He was an indoor-outdoor cat, and him being 18 years old, I knew why he had left (cats prefer to be alone when they pass). But even though I knew he wouldn't be coming back, I kept looking for him, reported him missing at the Humane Society, and put up posters. How could I not? We grew up together, he was a constant companion in my life. I used to call him my Cranky Old Man - it suited him perfectly, lol. I still miss him, and I remember him every Samhain [sow-win] (Halloween).

I also used to have a chinchilla, Pumpkin, but she died a few months ago. Poor Mimi is lonely without a cagemate, Pumpkin was her best-friend.

I'm very sorry for my introduction being so long! Like I said, if you have a question, please ask.

Magick Happens,
