I live here in Las Vegas and I am planning to see Bette soon. The writeups have been very favorable. Cher, on the other hand, has not fared as well. Out of her 2 hour show, she actually only appears on stage and sings for 30 minutes. The rest of her show is dancers, acrobats, scenic things. I love her and thought I'd see her show soon after she opened. But her nose bleed seats cost $200 and if I am going to pay upwards of that, I expect her to sing for more than 30 minutes. Perhaps she will change her show if she continues to get lukewarm reviews.

Fortunately I don't gamble, so my entertainment $$ goes soley to the shows on the strip, of which I have seem many. My all-time favorites go to Josh Groban, Celine Dion (saw her four times) and Tim McGraw with Faith Hill. Elton John was only so-so as was Toby Keith. And Johnny Mathis is always here at Christmas and is part of my holiday routine. He is still fabulous.

I feel like I've seen both Bette and Cher -- because I went to a live female-impersonator show once back in the '70s. It was called "French Dressing," and it was just a blast -- the guys were all so good! The one who did Bette also did Streisand... and I remember there was a fabulous Judy Garland who disappeared during a blackout for about ten seconds and came back as Liza.

I was working at a TV station at the time, and we had their Marilyn Monroe on our morning show (which is how I came by the tickets). You haven't lived until you've ridden in an elevator with a brawny 6-footer in spike heels and a white halter dress!

Have fun at the show!

Not seeing cher, not interested in her. Saw Bette here in phila in the 80's and she was incredible. Looking forward to seeing her again. I hope I won't be dissappointed. You know how that happens when you revisit something that you loved the first time.
I think Roseanne's standup should be good. Any reviews on that?

If you like brawny 6 footers in heels, you may enjoy watching "To Wong Foo, I Love You Julie Newmar" with Patrick Swazey in drag. Also, I just saw Kinky Boots which is based on true events in England. I enjoyed that movie, as well!

I just love Bette Midler and would love to see her perform! What a voice and personality she has!
