Wait for another cat because of Feline Leukemia

I need to know how logn you have to wait before you get another cat. You see my friend had 2 cats who died of Feline Leukemia, she has shapooed rugs, gotten rid of bowls, brushes, toys, litter boxes and is sad to hear she has to wait before getting a cat. She currently has no animals.

She can get one today. FELV is not an airborn illness. It is only transmitted through blood,urine,feces or mucous. To be on the safe side, I would buy all new litter pans and food bowls.
