I am Cuba

This movie the end all be all of propaganda movies. Shot on location in post Castro uprising Cuba in the 1960's this film shows why Cuba needed Communism from four different perspectives: a brothel worker, a farmer, a young revolutionary, and a father. It's also almost two and a half hours long. (No worries though it's split into four parts leaving enough of time to pause and go to the bathroom, refresh your popcorn, or just take a break if need be) I know, fellow TCSers, this film sounds dull doesn't it? Trust me, this movie will draw you in with out trying and toss you out the back end with a smile. It's so breathtakingly beautiful that it's impossible not to love it.

The best part of it is that this movie has several pools it can draw from to gain an audience: film geeks, history buffs, black and white film lovers, and anyone who just loves movies enough to pop it in a DVD player. Anyone who knows a history teacher now has their summer homework. Make sure that he or she watches this film and some how adds at least part of it in to their curriculum for the fall.

Yes, this movie is propaganda. Yes, it shows Communism is a positive light. But, try watching Burt the Turtle (Duck and Cover) after seeing this. I hate to say it, but the Commies won this fight hands down. Their movie was just better.
