I placed an order for some more books from Barnes & Noble. I was wondering if anyone has read any of these:

When Life Nearly Died: The Greatest Mass Extinction Of All Time by Michael Benton
http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Whe.../9780500285732

This one about the extinction that took place at the end of the Permian Period where over 90% of life on the planet was wiped out.

Cannae: Hannibal's Greatest Victory by Adrian Goldsworthy.
http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Can...3822593/?itm=1

Goldsworthy has quickly become one of my favorite historians when it comes to Roman history and the Punic Wars. This books is about Hannibal's victory over the Romans at Cannae.

Hannibal (Library of Essential Reading Series) by Theodore Ayrault Dodge.
http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Han...0768969/?itm=5

The story of Hannibal Barca.

Rome and the Barbarians, 100 BC-AD400 by Thomas S. S. Burns
http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Rom...1873065/?itm=1

Undaunted Courage: Meriwether Lewis, Thomas Jefferson and the Opening of the American West by Stephen E. Ambrose
http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Und...4826974/?itm=1

This about the historic Lewis and Clark expedition. I read a while back but didn't have it in the collection. Great book.

Too bad you don't live here in CA, Bryan, because our daughter is a history buff (studying to be a history teacher eventually prof) and she works at Barnes and Noble summers/holidays. She'll be home Sun., so I will ask her.

I don't know when I'll get to them. Right now I'm reading the first book in Shelby Foote's civil war trilogy and another book about a German sniper on the Eastern Front during WWII.

That one will probably be the best of the bunch, but to each their own.

My books are finally here (there was a delay with the order).

I also had added three more books to the collection this week in addition to what I ordered from B&N.

Lincoln by David Herbert Donald
