My husband and I took on a stray kitten last Halloween--his name is Jack (Jack-o-lantern--he's an orange kitty)

We had thought about a second cat but hadn't found one that even interested us--until Wednesday. We took Jack to Petsmart to weigh him and noticed a black and white kitty in the adoption area.

We went in and met him, he had all the characteristics we were looking for, short to medium hair, a talker, likes his belly rubbed and around the same age as Jack.

Last night hubby and I decided to go ahead and bring him home. I just picked him up and he is settling in in the bathroom. Our resident cat apparently has no idea I brought another cat in because he's acting normal.

Jack hasnt been around other cats since he was 10 weeks old--so we'll see how the intro goes.

I'll post pictures soon--he needs time to settle.

I can't wait for pictures! The new kit sounds like a doll (and I want to see Jack too, of course!).

Thanks guys!!

He has been named Harley--I will try and get some pictures tomorrow.

I'm ashamed to say we didn't take intro advice but things are going pretty well anyway. Hissing has subsided--poor Harley is just tired from his day--so he is in his safe room while Jack is free in the house.

I love it when I find the right name for a new kitty.

Just an update--Harley is sooo sweet--bless his heart he craves so much lovins. I guess 4 months in a cage will do that to ya!

He has actually met Jack already and they are doing pretty good together. However Harley is still to anxious to leave his safe room. It isn't Jack that is making him anxious--its being in a new place, a big place.

Both boys are receiving lots of reassurance.

I know--I feel blessed to be the one to save him from that cage!

He has been reassured that he will never be caged like that again! Harley had his nails cut today--apparently they hadn't done that at Petsmart. He did very well. He has also explored both the 1st floor and 2nd floor--he did poop in the bathroom last night, but I also failed to think about the fact that he is used to being within 18 inches of his litter box, and now doesn't have that "luxury". We have added a second to the first floor and one to the 2nd floor--for the time being.

The boys are doing better today--there is still hissing, but I think it is them trying to decide who is going to be alpha. I'm anxiously awaiting seeing them play together, snuggle, and groom each other.

Gonna take some pics this evening.
