My childhood cat, who lived with my parents, passed last week. He was almost 19 years old, and he had a wonderful long life.

Two days before he passed, it appeared as if his back legs just stopped working; he was dragging himself along. He somehow managed to get up to my youngest sister's bed, and he ate only when food was put in front of him but couldn't lift himself to the bowl. My family took him to the Vet he has been going to his whole life and she said "well, I think it's just time" and a tear rolled down her cheek. We decided to put him down so he wasn't suffering through anything and it seemed eminent. He's under a tree near his favorite spot in our yard. He was such a sweet cat.

Our younger cat is at a loss. Simon was never a huge fan, but acted like the crotchety old man suddenly flung together with this young whippersnapper who needed to be shown the ways of the wise. He is suddenly the most cuddly little guy and hates to be left alone anywhere. When he's not cuddling with one of my family members he's cuddling with the dog! It's been hard for all of us, I guess.

Condolences on losing such a valued member of the family. You certainly gave Simon a wonderful life, for him to have lived for so long. now he's young and pain-free, happily playing over RB

he lived a good, long life, w/a swift end - that's my preference for me or any of my loved ones.
& as you, your family, & the younger cat mourn the loss of such a special guy...

That's fantastic that you had your little boy for nearly 19 years

Have fun with the other cats at the bridge Simon, i'm sure you have lots of stories to tell them
